The Art of File Retrieval
The easiest technique to remove a separated instrument; predictable and minimally invasive. All delegates will have the opportunity to practice the technique hands on, at amazing Londec facility! Every delegate will have microscope provided and will remove files from 3D printed teeth and from extracted teeth using the Terauchi technique. This course is divided into two sections; theory in the morning, with a fully interactive hands-on session in the afternoon.
One of the iatrogenic accidents in endodontic treatment is an instrument fracture within the root canal system. An instrument fracture is very frustrating.
Instrument retrieval is even more frustrating and considered more challenging in endodontics than any other part of endodontic procedure. The recent studies have shown that the instrument retrieval with Terauchi technique was predictable and was significantly more successful as well as more conservative in dentin sacrifice than the traditional techniques. The unique procedures in combination with CBCT for instrument retrieval will be shown and discussed on this course using contemporary concepts.
Course Aims
To date no standardized technique for successful instrument removal has been established. It is very crucial to safely remove a fractured instrument. TFRK (Terauchi File Retrieval Kit) has been developed to both minimise dentin sacrifice and the time required to remove a fractured instrument and maximise the success without causing iatrogenic events. Learn predictable and minimally invasive techniques to retrieve a broken endodontic file using TFRK method.

Course Leaders
Yoshi Terauchi
Dr. Terauchi is a part-time lecturer at Tokyo Medical & Dental University and maintains a private practice limited to endodontics since 1998.
He earned his DDS in 1993 and completed his residency at Tokyo Medical & Dental University in 1995, where he also received his PhD from the Department of Endodontics. He has published several articles in peer- reviewed journals nationally and internationally. He also authored in several chapters in textbooks including 11th edition of “Pathways of the Pulp”. He has lectured nationally and internationally and was exposed twice on National TV, for modern endodontics.

- 2007: Part-time Lecturer at Tokyo Medical & Dental University, department of Endodontics.

I did the ProArch course recently. I was sceptical about the whole concept, but after doing the course, I’m able to assess the suitability of this concept and treat my patients in a better way. Alfonso explained it so nicely, and not only the hands on was useful, but the live surgery including the process of fabrication of the prosthesis and immediate placement was fantastic. It has given me a lot of understanding and knowledge about the pro-arch concept and the use of Straumann BLX Implants system is just fantastic. It has been amazing, (not sure if it’s a course or a holiday as having so much fun doing this), Massimo and Federico were so down to Earth and provided us with very informative lectures and practical demos, full of tips, techniques and helped problem solve. The hands on was fantastic, we did procedures on plastic teeth and extracted teeth and did so much in the time we had. I have been on quite a few endo courses but this definitely is the best that I’ve experienced. The atmosphere was so relaxed and quite entertaining. Being a small group was an advantage as we each had individual attention. Thank you so much I’m actually finally enjoying endo. I think the biggest difference to this course and others is that we will by working on live patients, under close supervision. This will definitely boost my confidence.
